Where Should We Stay in Phoenix for a Laid Back Vacation in October?

Question:

Hello there

My husband and I have booked flights to Phoenix for 8 days in October. We have never been and are looking for suggestions on what area to stay? We are pretty laid back. We enjoy eating out, hanging poolside and seeing the sights while hopefully making some new friends. We saw an airbnb that looked intersting in the Old part of Scottsdale but its so hard to know having never been there. Any advice is appreciated. We are open to resorts as well. It would be nice to be within walking distance to some restaurants, pubs, shops etc
Thanks Lee & Kurt

Scottsdale is your best bet. I found Phoenix very spread out and transit was almost non existent. Scottsdale is nice and walkable with some good places to eat.

The Perfect Home Base for a Laid-Back Phoenix Escape: Exploring Old Town Scottsdale

Dear Lee and Kurt,

Congratulations on planning an exciting getaway to Phoenix in October! You're in for a treat as the city offers a perfect blend of urban delights and natural beauty, making it an ideal destination for a laid-back yet memorable vacation.

Based on your interests – enjoying dining out, lounging by the pool, sightseeing, and potentially making new friends – the Old Town Scottsdale area seems like an excellent choice for your home base. Here's why:

The Charm of Old Town Scottsdale

Old Town Scottsdale is a vibrant, pedestrian-friendly district in the heart of Scottsdale, offering a unique blend of historic charm and modern amenities. Its tree-lined streets are lined with charming boutiques, art galleries, and an array of restaurants, bars, and pubs, providing you with ample opportunities to explore on foot.

Throughout your stay, you can immerse yourself in the area's lively atmosphere, with live music and outdoor patios that invite you to linger and soak in the local culture. The Old Town's weekly art walks and farmers' markets add to the experience, allowing you to mingle with locals and fellow visitors alike.

Exceptional Dining and Nightlife

Old Town Scottsdale is a foodie's paradise, boasting a diverse culinary scene that caters to every taste and budget. From casual eateries serving Southwestern fare to upscale restaurants offering global cuisines, you'll be spoiled for choice. The area is also known for its vibrant nightlife, with lively bars, breweries, and clubs that keep the party going late into the night.

Convenient Location and Accommodation Options

One of the biggest advantages of staying in Old Town Scottsdale is its central location, making it easy to explore the rest of the Phoenix metropolitan area. You'll be within a short drive of popular attractions like the Desert Botanical Garden, Papago Park, and the iconic Taliesin West – Frank Lloyd Wright's architectural masterpiece.

As for accommodation, Old Town Scottsdale offers a range of options, from cozy vacation rentals to luxurious resorts. The Airbnb you mentioned could be an excellent choice, allowing you to experience the area like a local while being steps away from the action. Additionally, some of the resorts in the area, such as the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess and the Scottsdale Resort & Spa at Montelucia, offer stunning pools, spas, and on-site dining, providing the perfect backdrop for a relaxing and indulgent vacation.

So, Lee and Kurt, Old Town Scottsdale ticks all the boxes for your dream Phoenix getaway – excellent restaurants, lively nightlife, and a unique atmosphere that seamlessly blends historical charm with modern amenities. Whether you opt for a cozy Airbnb or a luxurious resort, you'll be well-positioned to make the most of your 8-day escape.

Wishing you an unforgettable and rejuvenating time in Phoenix!
