The Musical Instrument Museum is amazing if you are looking for an indoor venue to beat the heat! Desert Botanical Gardens is lovely, but all outdoors.
Monica
Walk in a mall for a bit.

Check out the OdySea Aquarium in Scottsdale. It’s really nice facility, and is great for kids!! It is a little pricey, but I think there is a discount if you go on certain days or times. The aquarium is indoors and is air conditioned.

This is bound to ruffle some feathers, but it was our choice and it worked. When we few with our then toddler, we had the pharmacist figure out the correct dosage for Gravol for her. She had ear issues, and didn't want a screaming kid. Daughter slept and everyone had a great flight.

Traveling to Phoenix with a Baby
Traveling with a baby can be a daunting task, especially when you're headed to a destination with extreme temperatures like Phoenix. However, with proper planning and preparation, you can ensure a comfortable and enjoyable trip for both you and your little one.
Tips for Traveling with a Baby in Hot Weather
- Stay Hydrated: Keep plenty of water and liquids on hand for yourself and your baby. Breastfeed or bottle-feed your baby more frequently to prevent dehydration.
- Dress Appropriately: Dress your baby in lightweight, breathable clothing, and consider using sun-protective clothing or hats when outdoors.
- Use Sunscreen: Apply a baby-safe sunscreen to exposed areas of your baby's skin, and reapply as needed.
- Plan Indoor Activities: Phoenix can get extremely hot, so it's a good idea to plan indoor activities or visit air-conditioned locations during the hottest parts of the day.
- Carry a Portable Fan: A small, battery-operated fan can help keep your baby cool when you're on the go.
- Pack Cooling Towels: Bring along cooling towels or mist bottles to help your baby stay comfortable in the heat.
Things to Do in Phoenix with a Baby
- Arizona Science Center: This interactive museum offers hands-on exhibits and educational experiences for children of all ages, including a dedicated area for infants and toddlers.
- Desert Botanical Garden: Explore the diverse plant life of the Sonoran Desert while strolling through shaded walkways and enjoying the cooler morning or evening hours.
- Papago Park: This urban park features a variety of outdoor activities, including hiking trails, playgrounds, and a zoo.
- Heritage Square: Visit this historic district in downtown Phoenix and explore the museums, shops, and restaurants while enjoying the shade provided by the buildings.
- Indoor Play Areas: Check out indoor play spaces like trampoline parks, children's museums, or designated play areas within malls to keep your baby entertained and cool.
Remember, the key to a successful trip with a baby is to be flexible, patient, and prepared. By following these tips and considering age-appropriate activities, you can create wonderful memories while exploring Phoenix with your little one.
