I really enjoy Scottsdale, very nice area to walk around and enjoy local restaurants. Are you looking to go hiking in the Grand Canyon or Sedona? Those places have great hikes as well as more local hikes. If you are a seasoned hiker I recommend bright angel trail at the Grand Canyon. Very well traveled hike (so no problems alone) and magnificent beauty all around

There is another very short hike, hole in the rock with great views of the area.

Was going to stick closer to Phoenix area, probably Sedona. Went to the Grand Canyon a couple of years ago (STUNNING!) so want to see more of Arizona. More of a seasoned "walker" than hiker, but really want to check out the trails in the parks. Will look into Scottsdale. Thank you.

Our favourite hiking is in the Superstition Mountains.

Sedona is amazing! I stayed in Scottsdale at the Scottsdale Plaza Resort. Mainly used their free shuttle to get around (drop offs and pick ups within 5 miles) and rented a car for one day to see Sedona..Sedona was amazing! Highly recommend!

Phoenix was one of my first solo trips too! It’s a great area to visit. I was being cheap so I booked a budget hotel in mesa through expedia at the time but since then I’ve stayed in Sedona and flagstaff as well. Highly recommend at least a day trip to Sedona, it’s a gorgeous area and you can check out the “vortexes”. Endless hiking and walking here. You could drive to the Grand Canyon as well if you have time.
Camelback mountain , piestawa, south mountain, toms thumb are great hiking areas in Phoenix. The hiking there is different than Vancouver as it’s more of a desert experience and there are lots of shorter hikes so you can do several in a day.
Tempe town lake is a nice spot for walking or going for a run and I remember there being some funky shops and cafes in this area.

I was alone in Scottsdale’s for 2 days before my friend joined me. When I went out for dinners I’d sit at the bar and everyone was so nice and chatty! Definitely hit up downtown Scottsdale, so cute. Camelback mountain for a hike. Watched diamondbacks baseball game which was fun.
I can’t remember the exact restaurants I ate at anymore except for Olive & Ivy (which was fantastic) but here’s a link that might be useful https://www.thrillist.com/.../the-best-restaurants-in....
If your looking to go out to bars, check out the Indian plaza behind the W hotel. We went to the Bottled Blonde.
Hope that helps. Have fun!

Baseball fan? 15 Major League teams call the metro Phx area home for spring training starting late February to late March. There's stadiums all over the city hosting one or two teams. Tickets are cheap ($5) and the games are fun to watch.
Scottsdale, Salt River Flats and Peoria are examples of great shopping, dining and entertainment areas.

That sounds like fun too! Saw the Blue Jays at Yankee Stadium last April. Pretty cool, too bad they lost.
