Question:

Anyone have advice on flying from Vancouver to Bali? I'm looking at flights on Kayak, and they all have 2+ stops and are very long trips. Going from YVR to Bali to Shanghai and then back to Vancouver in September. Trying to figure out the best route!

YVR to Hong Kong. Hong Kong to Bali.

Book your flight from Hong to Bali separately with Hong Kong Airlines. Should be roughly 350 - 400 cdn

China Eastern flies Vancouver-Shanghai and Shanghai-Denpasar, and is usually inexpensive. It looks like the transit time on the way to Bali is long, so best to do the Shanghai part of the trip on the way to Bali.

Thanks Patrick, this looks like a great option!

There's no easy way to get there. It's going to be really long either way. If you want you could break up the trip by spending a day or two in a layover location like Hong Kong, Japan or Taiwan. If China interests you, they have 3 day transit visas available upon arrival.

We booked EVA air this September. 4hr layover in Taiwan. Leaves YVR at 2am but it's nice since you arrive at DPS around 3pm.
. Also. Interestingly enough, when laying over in Taiwan the actually flight time is 17hrs and 35mins by my itinerary. (1.5hours less in the air than stopping in Shanghai)

That's a great flight! We have to go to Shanghai for an event for a night. It seems like it's not straight forward to get to Bali though, unless we fly with China Eastern. I'm thinking of reconsidering going to Bali, and choosing somewhere closer. Any suggestions?

This will be our first time heading to that side of the world so I'm short on suggestions
. Most people recommended either Bali or Thailand to us. Philippines we were recommended as long as you get away from Manila.

I've had good experiences with EVA and China Airlines. Both offer an easy and smooth transfer through Taiwan.

From experience... a 2 hour layover through China is not always ideal. You risk missing your connection while waiting to go through passport control, even when just transiting.

Advice on Flying from Vancouver to Bali

When looking for flights from Vancouver to Bali with multiple stops, it's important to consider a few factors to make your journey as smooth as possible.

1. Consider Layover Times:

When booking flights with multiple stops, pay attention to the layover times. Opt for longer layovers to give yourself enough time to navigate through different airports and potentially avoid missing connecting flights.

2. Check for Direct Flights:

While it may be tempting to book the cheapest flight with multiple stops, consider looking for direct flights from Vancouver to Bali. Direct flights may be more expensive, but they can save you time and the hassle of dealing with multiple layovers.

3. Look for Flight Deals:

Keep an eye out for flight deals on websites like Kayak or Skyscanner. Sometimes, you may find discounted fares for direct flights or flights with shorter layovers that can make your journey more comfortable.

4. Consider Airlines:

Research different airlines that operate flights from Vancouver to Bali. Some airlines may offer better amenities, shorter layovers, or more convenient flight times that can enhance your overall travel experience.

5. Plan Ahead:

Since you're traveling in September, it's a good idea to book your flights in advance to secure the best deals and availability. Planning ahead can also help you avoid last-minute stress and potentially save money on your journey.

By considering these tips and doing thorough research, you can find the best route from Vancouver to Bali that suits your preferences and budget. Safe travels!
