Driving from Vancouver to Fredericton

I'm curious if anyone has any insight on what the best route is for driving through Canada from Vancouver to Toronto, and then on to Fredericton, New Brunswick? Trusty ol' Google isn't being very helpful for me today.
Side note - I'll be driving with my dad and I think we'd like to avoid northern Ontario.. lol..

Route 1: The Trans-Canada Highway
