I agree that South Beach is where to stay. Visit the Wynwood area if you like street art, beer, and food. I don't think you need a car unless you are planning on leaving Miami. uber there is great and you will probably spend lots of time just walking around South Beach. When I was there we booked a trip to the Everglades which was a lot of fun, the bus picks you up at the hotel. Bayside marketplace is good for some touristy shopping.

South Beach for sure, on Collins, north of 15th street on ocean side hotels have beach front properties, highly recommend The Royal Palm or anything near there.
Anita
Agree with Royal Palm. Good amenities, pleasant stay. Pay the extra for ocean view wherever you stay. Byblos is good for dining, Juvia for a wild rooftop view and for dinner or great cocktails. And Wywood is a must if you like art and culture.

Best Areas to Stay in Miami for All-Around Fun
Miami is a vibrant city that offers a fantastic blend of beaches, cultural attractions, shopping, and nightlife. To make the most of your January trip, consider staying in one of these areas:
South Beach
South Beach is Miami's iconic neighborhood, renowned for its Art Deco architecture, buzzing nightlife, and stunning beaches. This area is perfect for those who want to be at the center of the action. You'll find plenty of trendy restaurants, bars, and boutiques. Plus, you'll be just steps away from the famous Miami Beach.
Coconut Grove
Coconut Grove is a charming, laid-back neighborhood with a bohemian vibe. It's a great option if you're looking for a more relaxed atmosphere while still being close to the action. This area offers plenty of shopping and dining options, as well as easy access to Key Biscayne and its beautiful beaches.
Brickell
Brickell is Miami's financial district, but it's also a fantastic area for visitors. This modern neighborhood is home to luxury hotels, high-end shopping malls, and a vibrant dining scene. You'll be close to downtown Miami and its cultural attractions, as well as the beaches of Key Biscayne.
Coral Gables
Coral Gables is a beautiful, tree-lined neighborhood known for its Mediterranean architecture and upscale vibe. It's a great choice if you prefer a more residential area with easy access to shopping, dining, and cultural attractions like the Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden.
No matter which area you choose, renting a car is highly recommended to fully explore Miami's diverse neighborhoods and attractions. With your own transportation, you'll be able to easily visit the beaches, museums, shopping districts, and more.
Have a wonderful time in Miami, and don't hesitate to reach out if you need any other recommendations!

Hi everyone! I'm headed to Miami in January and was hoping for recommendations on what area to stay in? Want to do beaches, sight seeing, shopping, and general things. Will probably be renting a car as well. Thanks!
