i flew jetstar last year. really cheap flights within australia. flight from sydney to melbourne was only $35! only complaint i had was with my flight to thailand. we couldn't check in online prior to arriving at the airport, they said we didn't select any checked bags when booking the flight and we ended up paying $200+ to check our bags.

We just booked an inter-NZ flight with them for $45 each based off of recommendations from friends who live there. I noticed they try adding on a bunch of extras as you book and you need to remember to uncheck these options or else you'll find yourself with additional charges for things you might not want. I've heard that they charge crazy amounts for luggage if you don't add it on when booking though (during booking I believe we paid $11 each for a 50kg bag)

Yeah they're good and cheap. Just avoid their up sells in the booking path.

We flew from Darwin to Phuket round trip in 2013, low coast company but not that bad! BE careful when you book as lots of option keep been added to the booking! otherwise, let's say they are OK! Good and cheap fly from Autrsalia and SE Asia!

Flew Jetstar when I was living down-under. They were decent and affordable for our family of 5. We had no problems except with a rude attendant when we checked in at the Cairns airport.

They are the lower cost subsidiary of Qantas.

Flying with Jetstar: An Honest Review

Jetstar, the low-cost carrier based in Australia, has become a popular choice for many travelers seeking affordable airfare. As someone who has flown with Jetstar on multiple occasions, I can share my honest experience and insights.

Booking Process

The booking process with Jetstar is straightforward and user-friendly. Their website is easy to navigate, and you can find deals and promotions quite easily. However, it's important to note that the base fares are often very low, but additional fees for things like checked baggage, seat selection, and in-flight meals can quickly add up.

Seating and Comfort

Jetstar's seating configuration is fairly standard for a low-cost carrier. The seats are relatively comfortable for short-haul flights, but they can become quite cramped on longer journeys. Legroom is limited, especially if you're seated in the standard economy class. If you're taller or require more space, it's worth considering upgrading to an exit row or extra legroom seat.

In-Flight Experience

The in-flight experience with Jetstar is basic but adequate. You can purchase snacks, drinks, and meals on board, but the selection is limited, and the prices are higher than what you might find at a grocery store. The cabin crew is generally friendly and efficient, but don't expect the same level of service as you would find on a full-service airline.

Baggage Policies

Jetstar's baggage policies can be a bit strict, so it's essential to be aware of the allowances and fees. They charge for checked baggage, and the fees can be quite high if you exceed the weight or size limits. Make sure to weigh and measure your bags carefully before arriving at the airport to avoid any unexpected charges.

Final Thoughts

Overall, flying with Jetstar can be a great option if you're on a tight budget and don't mind sacrificing some amenities. It's a no-frills experience, but if you manage your expectations and understand the additional fees, it can be a cost-effective way to travel. Just be sure to plan ahead, pack light, and be prepared for a basic in-flight experience.
