Hey there! I'm sure this has been asked before, but I'm wondering if people here have found better deals on last minute all-inclusive vacations or better deals a few months in advance?
My husband and I are going to Mexico (Cancun side) in January and want thoughts on booking now vs booking a month in advance! Thanks!

Last minute 100% unless your stuck on a specific hotel. There are always 4 and 5 start options for some times even as much as 50% off. Just check multiple sites now for next week and you will get an idea of different cost savings. When I traveled all inclusives I never paid even close to full price ever.

We always try to book last minute if we're not travelling with someone else. We can always find a nice resort for under 3k for 2 of us. We got burned by bad weather in the past in Cozumel and Cuba, so we look at the forecast and book a couple of days before we leave. We've ended up on the west coast the last few years in January due to crappy weather on the East side. That said, Samantha is right, they do have some awesome deals on Black Friday!

It often depends on what class of resort you're looking at. Whenever I've limited my search to 4 stars or higher, I found 6 weeks in advance was the optimal timing to get a deal on selloffvacations.com. For 3 or 3.5 star resorts, deals can often be had closer to the departure date.

Last Minute vs. Advance Booking: Which is Better for All-Inclusive Vacations?

When it comes to scoring the best deals on all-inclusive vacations, the age-old question remains: Is it better to book last minute or secure your trip months in advance? The answer, as with many things in life, is – it depends.

The Case for Last Minute Bookings

Booking a last-minute all-inclusive vacation can be a gamble, but it can also pay off in significant savings. Resort operators and travel companies are often desperate to fill vacant rooms as the travel date approaches, leading them to offer steep discounts.

If you're flexible with your dates and destination, you can snag some incredible deals by monitoring travel sites and signing up for last-minute deal alerts. These can often save you up to 50% or more compared to booking months in advance.

The Advantages of Advance Booking

On the flip side, booking your all-inclusive vacation several months ahead can also have its perks. For starters, you'll have a wider selection of resorts, room types, and travel dates to choose from, ensuring you get exactly what you want.

Additionally, many resorts and travel companies offer early bird discounts and specials for those who book well in advance. These deals can be just as good as last-minute offers, and you'll have the added peace of mind knowing your vacation is secured.

The Verdict for Cancun in January

For your specific situation of visiting Cancun in January, the consensus among travel experts is that booking a few months in advance is likely your best bet. Cancun is a popular destination, and January is part of the peak season, so last-minute deals may be harder to come by.

However, it's always worth keeping an eye out for last-minute promotions, as unforeseen circumstances can lead to unexpected discounts. Just be prepared to be flexible with your travel dates and resort choices if you want to capitalize on those eleventh-hour bargains.

Ultimately, the choice between booking last minute or in advance comes down to your personal preferences and travel style. If you're a meticulous planner who values having everything locked in, book early. But if you're a spontaneous bargain hunter, stay vigilant for those last-minute steals.
