I don’t have any accommodation tips . But look up Jorge on the Havana travel forum on trip advisor. He put is in touch with the most lovely lady . We did one day tour with her in an old convertible car, one day walking tour. We were invited to have lunch with a local family. Just a really special trip.

Vedado is a cool area. Lots of greenery. We liked staying in the embassy area at a Casa particular

Casa particulares. I would never stay in a hotel in Cuba, it's too expensive and sterile. Casas is the way to go.

Ahh, thank you for that, I knew pensiones was not the right term

No worries. Ive done it so much it's very difficult to go back to hotels when I go down. It's nice when you spend time with their families and they like the cultural exchange.

Raveen I agree, you become a traveller rather than a tourist. Best part of travel is learning and experiencing new and different cultures - IMHO you can not do that in an all inclusive.

Exactly. True words Pauline. I'm in a phase of life that travel is important, not touring. There is a difference. And Cuba was great for that. I would help the family with their chores, share whisky for rye, fix cars..... And have a good time doing it.

If you guys have questions please feel free to ask. I've been there 19 times.

Awesome. Is that particular casa one of your favorites? Also, do you know of any good places to take guitar lessons in Havana?

Actually I havent visited that casa, it's just an auto fill thing. Best thing to do is get there and find someone to find you a casa that suits your taste and price. Might take you a couple of tries but that's part of the experience. I liked the smaller towns better and didn't spend much time in Havana. Also if one doesn't suit your liking you just tell them what you are looking for and they will find you a place. It's weird but they are well networked.

Hi Paula, was Trinidad a good place to visit? I am looking to do a few days in other parts of Cuba besides resort spots.

I just got back from Cuba today!! I was in the Santa Clara area for this trip.. Trinidad is beautiful, and definitely worth the trip! Also a night in Viñales is also worth it, to see the tobacco fields!

We enjoyed a couple days in Vinales the tabacco growing region on the far West Point. Also flew to Santiago De Cuba and did a road trip to Trinidad
