I really think it depends on what you want. I love all inclusive with my son, not sure if I'd travel any other way with him. He can eat what he wants, do whatever he wants and it's always a good time. We've done Christmas in Cancun, mazatlan and Cuba. Had a great time everytime.

SE Asia (Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, etc) is fun and cheap if you can get the right flights. Long journey. Stay at least 2 weeks to make it worthwhile.
Vella
All Inclusive in Mexico, Cuba, Costa Rica. Although you may find prices are higher around Christmas time, it is still cheaper than going to Hawaii which would be my preference personally.

Unless you really want to be away for Christmas and New Years day specifically, you may find that going just before or just after those dates you can get much better deals. Of course it depends on when your kids are off school and for how long you plan to vacation. We found a great all inclusive price last year for Puerto Vallarta, earlier in December, and have also flown cheaply to Thailand on New Year's Eve. Anytime we've looked at Christmas or New Years pricing for cruises, they've been ridiculous, unless it's been a last minute cancellation.

Cancun had cheap flights

I've cruised out of Fort Laderdale a couple of times over Christmas and New Years. I'd recommend it. The ship entertainment and ports will keep your teenagers occupied. There is a huge variety of food and they are great at celebrating the holidays. Your biggest challenge will be flights, book now, we'be used points in the past. Check out vacationstogo.com for deals and selections. If you decide to do this msg me about pre or post cruise hotel arrangements.

The Best Christmas Getaway for Families with Teens
With the holidays just around the corner, many families are starting to plan their perfect Christmas getaway. If you're a family of four with teenage kids, finding the right destination can be a bit tricky. You want a place that's warm but not too hot, budget-friendly, and offers plenty of activities to keep everyone entertained. Here's our top recommendation:
Puerto Vallarta, Mexico
Puerto Vallarta, located on the Pacific coast of Mexico, is an excellent choice for a family Christmas vacation. With its warm, sunny weather (average temperatures in the mid-70s Fahrenheit), beautiful beaches, and a favorable exchange rate, Puerto Vallarta ticks all the boxes.
Why Puerto Vallarta?
- Affordable Luxury: Puerto Vallarta offers a wide range of accommodations, from budget-friendly hotels to luxurious all-inclusive resorts. Many resorts offer special holiday packages, making it easier to plan your stay and budget.
- Oceanfront Bliss: With its prime location on Banderas Bay, Puerto Vallarta boasts several beautiful beaches, perfect for swimming, sunbathing, and water sports. Many resorts offer direct beach access, so you can easily spend your days soaking up the sun and enjoying the ocean breeze.
- Family-Friendly Activities: From zipline adventures and whale watching tours to cultural excursions and vibrant nightlife, Puerto Vallarta has something for everyone. Teens will love the adventure activities, while adults can indulge in the local cuisine, art galleries, and lively town center.
Recommended Length of Stay
For a truly memorable Christmas vacation, we recommend staying in Puerto Vallarta for at least 7-10 days. This will give you enough time to explore the area, participate in various activities, and fully relax and enjoy the holiday spirit.
All-Inclusive or Road Trip?
Puerto Vallarta offers both options – all-inclusive resorts and the opportunity for a road trip adventure. If you prefer the convenience and hassle-free experience of an all-inclusive resort, there are several excellent options to choose from. However, if you're feeling adventurous, you could consider a road trip from the United States or Canada, making stops along the way to explore more of Mexico.
No matter which option you choose, Puerto Vallarta promises a warm, festive, and unforgettable Christmas getaway for your family.

Thinking of Christmas... Seeking your thoughts and advice on where to go as a family of 4, our 2 children are teens. Where could we go for Christmas/newyear timeframe that would be warm but not too scorching hot with a dollar exchange that won't kill the bank account. Best Christmas-time getaway? How long? All inclusive? Oceanfront? Road tripping?
