Grand Bahia principe Tulum is awesome! Have stayed there many times.
Kim
How is the service for drinks at the pool?
Amanda
I’ve stayed at 3/4 resorts at grand Bahia principe. It’s amazing! The staff there really go above and beyond. There is something to do for everyone ! Amazing food
Kim
How is the beach and pools?
Amanda
Kim the beach is nice, water is warm. Sometimes it’s difficult to find a chair at the pools but I found it was easier to find chairs at the beach. Tulum is nice cause the pool and beach are really close together. You will have access to the coba pool too which I found it to be more like the “party pool” but both pools had activities and the entertainment team does a good job at getting you to participate.
Kim
Perfect! Thanks!
Stephani
awesome snorkeling right at the resort too !
Kelly
We were at the Grand Riviera Princess last week and really liked it. Great resort, plenty of pool chairs (no need to get up early to save seats!), good beach, great service. The resort is huge, so you will do lots of walking. Food at the buffets was fine - I’ve had better, but I’ve also had much worse... There was always something to eat and it was very clean. The a la carte restaurants were really good and reservations were easy to get and we were a big group. The kids loved the kids club in the family club and the ice cream shop... the bunk beds in the room were also a hit!
Kim
Thanks for the information, is the beach good to swim at too? Is service good when your at the pool for drinks? What type of food was at the buffets?
Kelly
The beach was good for swimming. A few sections had a few rocks close to shore, but it was fine and you can go fairly far out. There is a snack bar on the beach with hot dogs and burgers. Service at the pool we were at was good... a little slow, but the servers were very attentive. The service at all the swim up bars was excellent. Breakfast was fairly standard - eggs, pancakes, omelettes, etc. Lunch/Dinner - “kid food” of burgers, fries, hot dogs, as well as tortillas, fajita filling, chicken, ribs, rice, salad bar, etc. There was more selection at the dinner buffet. It is a 5 star, so the food was fine... it is hard to be gourmet at a buffet
. In a group of 9, no one ended up sick. It is a great resort.
Kim
Awesome! Thanks so much for all the info!
Amanda
Iv stayed at both ...loved the princess and liked Tulum...only negative would be the rooms need to updated at Tulum but other then that it was great...we just got home from there!!
Kim
Oh nice! Looks beautiful! Would you stay more at one then the other? Did one feel busier then the other? Which had better food or service?
Amanda
Its been 4 years since we stayed at the princess but i would go there if I didn’t bring kids and id go back tulum if i was bringing kids as the waterpark was 5min away and the entertainment staff was unbelievable!! Id say princesses buffet was better but all al carters were the same... princess was definitely a 5* hotel tulum was maybe a 4* on my scale
Amanda
Both are very big resorts
Amanda
Beach at both was great... tulum was a bit shallow in the swim area which was perfect because we had 4 kids with u
Kim
Awesome! Totally makes sense. Thanks for the feedback
Mo
Also, at Princess (https://goo.gl/pCDaAX) it's all suites, some of the top-end realy nice, wherea as the Bahia the choice of accommodation is poorer and more limited
Amanda
agreed!
Steph
We stayed at Grand Riviera Princess in December and it was great. Large resort, entertainment was amazing and restaurants were great.
No complaints. We did Platinum section, loved all the little extras, especially check in and lounge options
Steph
Best servers and bartenders here. Amazing service!!
Kim
Thanks for the information and picture!
Kim
Were the beaches good too?
Steph
Kim yes, they get cleaned every morning! And raked up during day so they are always keeping it clean
There will be a $15 US charge for them cleaning it ( government charge they say) while at check in
They do a foam party Friday’s on the beach, lots of volleyball going, a big watch tower for lifeguard,
Felt safe!
Kim
Good to know! Thanks!
Jolanta
Princess is considered a 5 star resort, Bahia 4.5 star. Both resorts are big but Bahia is HUGE, if you don't mind walking alot. Princess was refurbished not too long ago due to bad accident happening there. If you travelling with kids, Bahia has better beach.
Jolanta
I agree with the previous person-- Palladium!!!!!!
Jennifer
Gran Bahias are great, we stayed on the akumal side and thought it was slightly better than Tulum side (avoid Coba since ways from beach)
Kim
Yeah I don't want to be that far away from the beach, so that makes sense. Thanks for your feedback
Liz
We stayed at Baha'is Akumal as well. We had a beach front room with a patio door.We walked down to the Tulum beach a few times. The resort was great. Used the white Collectavo vans to go back and forth to Playa.
Jessica
Stayed at Gran Bahia Tulum last January, absolutely loved it. Beach was gorgeous, food options were excellent.
Stephani
Have stayed at both, would probably go back to bahia over princess ... princess was closer to town (playa del carmen) though which was fun if you are wanting to do things off the resort !
Rodney
If you were going without children, I would highly recommend staying at the Grand Platinum Princess! It gives you access to the other two Grands next door, and the overall service and everything else about the resort is amazing!
Haidee
Between the two listed we have only stated at Grand Bahia Príncipe...actually taking the kids there Easter and chose this property because of the massive beach line. The ocean by the Grand Bahia Akumel part is great for snorkelling as it is like a cove and the long beach in front of Grand Bahia Príncipe is great for just playing in the waves. There were bar "huts" quite close to where we would set up on the beach so always had drinks handy.

Grand Bahia Principe Tulum vs. Grand Riviera Princess All Suites: Which Resort is Right for Your Mexican Getaway?
Planning a trip to Mexico's stunning Riviera Maya and torn between the Grand Bahia Principe Tulum and the Grand Riviera Princess All Suites? Both resorts offer luxurious all-inclusive experiences, but they differ in their ambiance, amenities, and overall vibe. Let's explore the pros and cons of each to help you make an informed decision.
Grand Bahia Principe Tulum
Pros:
- Beachfront Location: The Grand Bahia Principe Tulum boasts a stunning location right on the white sandy beaches of the Riviera Maya, offering easy access to the turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea.
- Lush Tropical Surroundings: Nestled amidst lush tropical gardens and mangrove forests, this resort provides a serene and natural atmosphere that immerses you in the local environment.
- Variety of Dining Options: With over 20 restaurants and bars on-site, you'll have a diverse range of culinary experiences to choose from, including Mexican, Italian, Japanese, and more.
- Family-Friendly Amenities: If you're traveling with kids, the Grand Bahia Principe Tulum offers a dedicated kids' club, water park, and various children's activities to keep the little ones entertained.
Cons:
- Sprawling Resort: The resort is massive, which can make navigating and getting around a bit challenging, especially if you have mobility issues.
- Potential for Crowding: With its large size and popularity, the resort can sometimes feel overcrowded, particularly during peak seasons or holidays.
Grand Riviera Princess All Suites
Pros:
- Luxurious Suites: As the name suggests, the Grand Riviera Princess All Suites offers spacious and elegantly appointed suites, providing a more upscale and intimate experience.
- Quieter Atmosphere: With a smaller footprint and fewer guests, this resort tends to offer a more tranquil and relaxing atmosphere compared to the bustling Grand Bahia Principe Tulum.
- Impressive Pool Areas: The resort boasts an impressive array of pools, including a lazy river, infinity pools, and a dedicated adults-only pool area.
- Proximity to Playa del Carmen: Located just a short drive from the vibrant town of Playa del Carmen, you'll have easy access to shopping, dining, and nightlife if you choose to venture out.
Cons:
- Less Beachfront Access: While the resort has beach access, the beachfront area is not as extensive as the Grand Bahia Principe Tulum.
- Fewer Dining Options: With a smaller resort, the Grand Riviera Princess All Suites has a more limited selection of restaurants compared to its larger counterpart.
Ultimately, the choice between the Grand Bahia Principe Tulum and the Grand Riviera Princess All Suites will depend on your personal preferences and priorities. If you're seeking a lively, family-friendly atmosphere with a wide range of dining options and direct beachfront access, the Grand Bahia Principe Tulum might be the better fit. However, if you prefer a more intimate and tranquil setting with luxurious accommodations and impressive pool areas, the Grand Riviera Princess All Suites could be the perfect oasis for your Mexican getaway.

I'm heading to Mexico for an all-inclusive stay in April, and I'm comparing the Grand Bahia Principe Tulum and the Grand Riviera Princess All Suites. Does anyone have opinions good or bad for either resorts? Thanks in advance!
