We enjoyed PV that time of year last year but there were some amazing storms and rain like I have never seen before (and I am from Vancouver!). Lots of sun though too

We went for our honeymoon mid September and the weather was amazing. One rainy evening, but other than that it was fantastic. PV is pretty much immune to hurricane season too, which is why we originally chose it as our honeymoon location- everywhere else during that time it's peak hurricane season.

Is End of September-October a Good Time to Visit Puerto Vallarta, Mexico?

If you're considering a trip to Puerto Vallarta (PV), Mexico, during the end of September or October, you've made an excellent choice. This time of year offers some of the best weather conditions and fewer crowds, making it an ideal time to enjoy the stunning beaches, vibrant culture, and numerous activities in this popular Mexican resort town.

Weather in Puerto Vallarta

The end of September and October fall within Puerto Vallarta's dry season, which lasts from mid-October to June. During this period, the weather is generally warm and sunny, with average temperatures ranging from 75°F to 90°F (24°C to 32°C). The humidity levels are lower, making it more comfortable for outdoor activities and sightseeing.

While the risk of hurricanes is lower during this time compared to the summer months, there is still a chance of occasional rain showers. However, these showers are typically brief and shouldn't significantly disrupt your vacation plans.

Smaller Crowds and Better Deals

One of the main advantages of visiting Puerto Vallarta during the end of September and October is the smaller crowds. With fewer tourists, you'll enjoy a more relaxed atmosphere and less competition for beach spots, restaurant reservations, and other popular attractions.

Additionally, this time of year often offers better deals on accommodations, tours, and activities, as it falls within the shoulder season for tourism in Puerto Vallarta. You may find discounted rates on hotels, airfare, and vacation packages, allowing you to stretch your travel budget further.

Activities and Events

Despite being the shoulder season, Puerto Vallarta still offers a wide range of activities and events during the end of September and October. You can enjoy water sports such as snorkeling, scuba diving, and sailing, or explore the nearby Sierra Madre Mountains through hiking or zip-lining adventures.

Additionally, this period coincides with several cultural festivals and events in Puerto Vallarta, allowing you to immerse yourself in the local traditions and celebrations. For example, the Day of the Dead (Día de Muertos) is a colorful and vibrant festival that takes place around the end of October or early November.

Final Thoughts

Overall, the end of September and October is an excellent time to visit Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. With pleasant weather, smaller crowds, better deals, and plenty of activities and events, this period offers a perfect balance for an enjoyable and memorable vacation. Just be prepared for the occasional rain shower and pack accordingly.
