Flights there never have much of a deal and to save very little requires several transfers and layovers. Usually not worth the savings. But most airlines have a free stopover and you're usually in Korea, Japan or Hong Kong.

Take a look on google flights - Prices in November are as low as $888 roundtrip to Singapore (with a stopover in Hong Kong) which is on the average/low side. Take a look at AirAisa and Tigerair for any flights you need within SEA but you can pretty much bus/boat through most of the continental countries. (fly to Indo, obviously, the Philippines, and maybe Myanmar)

Thanks Curt - were you able to do anything fun in HKG while on your stop over? Thanks for the suggestions! I'm planning to go for a few months!

As what other posters said, try using kayak or flighthub!

If you are web savvy you can save some money if you know how to use web proxies or vpn's. This is a trick I have used before and it still seems to hold true. I just priced the exact same flight on the same booking site from YYZ-REP using a Canadian ip which gave me a price of $1456, a US ip gave $1379 and a Netherlands ip came up at $1250.
Also www.skyscanner.com has always given me the best prices. Be sure to delete all cookies from your browser before checking a new site.

Traveling to Southeast Asia: Tips, Recommendations, and Deals

Southeast Asia is a captivating region with diverse cultures, stunning natural landscapes, and rich histories. If you're planning a trip to this part of the world, here are some tips, recommendations, and deals to help you make the most of your adventure.

Tips for Traveling in Southeast Asia

Respect Local Customs

Southeast Asian countries have unique cultural traditions and customs. Respect these by dressing modestly when visiting temples or religious sites, removing your shoes when entering homes or certain buildings, and being mindful of local norms and etiquette.

Haggle Politely

Haggling is common in many Southeast Asian markets and street stalls. However, do so politely and with a smile. Remember that a few dollars may not mean much to you, but it could make a significant difference to the vendor.

Be Cautious with Street Food

Street food in Southeast Asia is delicious and affordable, but exercise caution. Stick to stalls with a high turnover and watch how the food is prepared. Avoid raw or undercooked dishes if you have a sensitive stomach.

  • Bali, Indonesia: Known for its beautiful beaches, lush rice terraces, and vibrant culture, Bali is a must-visit destination in Southeast Asia.
  • Siem Reap, Cambodia: Home to the awe-inspiring Angkor Wat temple complex, Siem Reap offers a glimpse into the rich history and architecture of the Khmer Empire.

  • Hoi An, Vietnam: Hoi An is a well-preserved ancient town known for its colorful lanterns, tailors, and delicious cuisine.
