The Greek islands are phenomenal, Santorini was my favourite. And you’re doing Croatia? Dream come true!
rent a car and go wild! Croatia for breakfast, Slovenia for lunch, and Italy for dinner!

I’ve been to Croatia a few times and have had the privilege to see most major cities in the country(my family is from there)! I loved Zagreb- it was by far the least touristy and cheapest city, there wasn’t a ton of English but the sites and the history was incredible. Plitvice falls were incredible, they are a series of falling lakes in the interior and are stunning! For islands, hvar is amazing but may be quite busy during the summer months
split is a nice historic destination as well, although a little more pricey and touristy, but worth seeing for a day! There’s also a ton of air bnb style accommodations that are cheaper with the option of a kitchen to save some money, but I loved the cheaper- hole in a wall restaurants that are more authentic. PM me if you want some food recommendations or other advice for Croatia!

We just got back from Croatia and it was incredible. We did Zagreb, Split, and Brac Island off of Split. Depending on what you’re looking for, I would mostly recommend Brac Island or one of the surrounding ones - I too have heard Hvar gets quite busy and is more touristy, but is one of the more beautiful islands. We stayed in Supetar at an amazing Airbnb that was super affordable and i would highly recommend it!
If you do go to Brac, you can visit a beautiful beach named Zlatni Rat as well as a hike if you’re into it named Vidova Gora. There’s also tons of isolated beaches as well that are super nice and great for snorkeling.

We just did Greece and Croatia, trip of a lifetime. We loved the Island of Naxos in Greece, and it wasn’t as expensive as many of the other Greek Islands like Santorini and Mykonos etc. Highly recommend. Croatia was our highlight. Loved Dubrovnik, but it is quite touristy and expensive, but still worth it. Then we did a 4 day 3 night sailing trip with HuckFinn Croatia...highlight of our trip by far!

I loved all of Croatia, and it is a short trip over to Montenegro which is also beautiful. If you are looking to island hop, I would head to Split right away and make it your base to hit up the islands. Keep in mind that most of croatia beaches are not your typical "sandy" beach. I'd go to Greece for that.

Ashley go to “Zlatni Rat” on Bol
which overlooks the island of Hvar. This beach is arguably Croatia’s best beach and constantly wins various international best beach awards.

I loved Bol, disliked Dubrovnik. Overall I found Croatia was really overhyped and actually preferred Greece. We sailed in Santorini on our honeymoon and I can’t recommend it enough. Santorinisailing.com

Planning Your Honeymoon Trip to Greece and Croatia

Congratulations on your upcoming honeymoon! June is a great time to visit both Greece and Croatia as the weather is warm and the tourist season is in full swing. With 2 weeks for vacation, you'll have plenty of time to explore both countries. Here are some tips on where to go, what to do, what to see, and what to avoid:

Greece

In Greece, consider visiting the beautiful islands of Santorini, Mykonos, and Crete. These islands are known for their stunning beaches, charming villages, and delicious cuisine. Make sure to explore the ancient ruins in Athens, including the Acropolis and the Parthenon. Avoid overcrowded tourist areas and opt for smaller, more authentic villages for a more peaceful experience.

Croatia

In Croatia, don't miss the historic city of Dubrovnik, known for its well-preserved medieval walls and stunning views of the Adriatic Sea. Visit the Plitvice Lakes National Park for its breathtaking waterfalls and crystal-clear lakes. Avoid peak tourist season in popular destinations like Split and Hvar, and opt for more off-the-beaten-path locations for a more relaxing experience.

General Tips

  • Book accommodations in advance to secure the best deals and availability.
  • Try local cuisine and sample traditional dishes in each country.
  • Take time to relax and enjoy each other's company, after all, it's your honeymoon!
  • Avoid overpacking and make sure to pack light for easy travel between destinations.

Overall, Greece and Croatia are both beautiful countries with plenty to offer honeymooners. By planning ahead and choosing the right destinations, you're sure to have a memorable and romantic trip. Congratulations again and have a wonderful honeymoon!
