For SE-Asia, I already had extended layover in Tokyo, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Amsterdam (between 12h and 36h).
Be careful, not all Asian countries are fully reopened!

Hanoi in my opinion. Nice contrast to what HCMC offers. Also, it's Northern Vietnam, so you can experience both the north and south

Danish we will be finishing our tour there!

Leslie they are night and day different. Pro tip: yes in HCMC you can wake up at 3:20am and go out for a bite to eat on bustling street and then back to bed. Hanoi is not like that as i learned when i went out of my room around 10 pm to find the city closed lol it's colder there and short shop hours.
Be sure to try jackfruit. My greatest discovery in Asia after curry rice in Japan.

Leslie if you can take the night scooter tour in Saigon ( what the locals call the city) it was outstanding. Vietnam is simply beautiful.

Hong Kong, China, Japan are on the way, but basically closed for stopovers. Soeul is the best option, Manila next. If you want to go further out of the way, then there is bangkok and Singapore.

Hi! I’m wondering the same thing, but we go in December. How do you get a 3-4 day stopover without booking separate flights? I know I did this through Cathay years ago but I can’t figure it out now. Any tips?

Chris

Stephani Just need to use the Multi-City function on major search sites. Search for a flight like this: https://www.google.ca/travel/flights/search...

Taipei is amazing! Great food. Amazing culture. It’s the oddest Asian city in that it’s well organized and not congested. People literally sit on the floor of the train station and eat lunch on the floor. The city is that clean. It’s an odd ugly cute city. You’ll see when you visit. You can’t help but fall in love with it. People are ridiculously nice.
