Where can you find the most breathtaking views in Canada for a short trip?

Question:

Profile picture of Julie

Julie

What is the most amazing place you’ve visited in Canada?! We want to do a 4 day trip (fly or drive) in early October and we are looking for ideas. No kids. Thanks in advance!!

Profile picture of Harmke

I live in bragg creek foothills of the rockies. Banff, Canmore, kananaskis absolutely beautiful. The only thing when you come early October is that we might have a ton of snow already. So be prepared for that.
But maybe no snow as well, you just never know.
Having said that, we also absolutely love vancouver island. There are beaches, ocean, mountains, it is all there. And milder weather ofcourse.

Profile picture of Terry

Terry

I have lived in Calgary for 21 years and have been to all 10 provinces in Canada. Unless you are an ocean person, the best place in Canada to spend 4 days are the Banff, Lake Louise, Jasper area, for sights

Profile picture of Terry

Terry

And for food, Montreal and Quebec in general

Profile picture of Cathy

Terry great! Any tips or tricks for travelling there?

Profile picture of Tracey

Cape Breton is wonderful in October!

Profile picture of Darrick

I second this. I just got back from Nova Scotia and drove the Cabot Trail during the drive I was thinking how amazing it would be with the fall colours. I’d recommend doing it over two or three days and catch sunset at the Skyline Trail.

Profile picture of Susanne

Susanne

Cathy the Eastern townships is the most visited places during Autumn. Check out airbnb or chalet. We been to Île aux gros . So peaceful to stay In that lil. Island. Need to take Helicopter ride or ferry.your choice. Good luck

Profile picture of Marie

Marie

if you don’t speak French avoid Quebec.

Profile picture of Yannick

Yannick

Marie Meh, it's like saying if you dont speak Japanese avoid Japan etc etc.
Montreal is mostly bilingual with TONS of english as first language, Eastern townships has a lof of English speakers and most know enough english to help you out. Same applie sto most of Quebec, English is a mandatory course in the entire province starting in grade 13.
Leave with a good attitude, try some basic French, and it will be reciprocated. Same applie sto anywhere else you'd go.

Profile picture of Marie

Marie

Yannick yes, been there and done that. Quebec is very anti English. Even if you make an effort they will refuse to help you. My boyfriend at the time was bilingual but I will never go back. It is so disrespectful to treat someone putting money into your economy like shit.

Profile picture of Marie

Marie

Cathy don’t go. There are states with the same colours that don’t discriminate if you don’t speak French

Profile picture of Robbin

Robbin

Marie not true at all!

Profile picture of Yannick

Yannick

Marie Well, I wonder why so many here recommend it then and had a wonderful experience? (check the many recommendations)
If your boyfriend was bilingual and spoke French, why weren't they helpful then? I wonder...
why would they treat the both of you like s@@t, as you put it, but not the others?
Montreal is one of the most international cities in Canada and I spoke English wherever I pleased with 0 issues, same with the anglophones I know living there.
I'm done, have a good day.

Profile picture of Jason

Cathy the old city is down town it’s surrounded by a wall as it’s the only city north of Mexico that is walled
Next to it is the park the plains of Abraham
The old city is designed like a French city with European style restaurants and shops
The Quebec provincial building is just outside of the gate and their is a beautiful fountain there that was a gift from France
In short it’s a mini piece of France
City is very clean and I didn’t see and homeless

Profile picture of Paula

Paula

Julie mmmm…
-not sure what a standard room is. We ended taking a very last minute same day cancellation which was a ground level room right on the beach. Rooms were clean and well kept but a little dated with the dark colours of the early 2000’s. They even had a couple of fire pits beachside with chairs and a great ocean view for all guest to enjoy! Boy was it nice! Maybe give them a call and see what they say? In any case I’m sure other than a beach view all rooms would be comparable

Virginia Falls is a waterfall in Nahanni National Park Reserve, Northwest Territories, Canada. It is located on the South Nahanni River, at an elevation of 500 m. It is located 120 km from the Yukon border. It has a total drop of 96 m, 315 ft, making it about twice the height of Niagara Falls. A large falls, not just the height. The gorge with rock walls straight up, 300 ft.plus. Wikipedia, There are several guide outfitters doing this. It’s an adventure of a lifetime. Easy flights to get there. Edmonton to Fort Nelson, Vancouver to Fort Nelson. Depending which outfitter you use. I had the privilege of working with the Fort Liard Yukon reservation people and seeing it. Better then Niagara Falls, hands down.

Exploring the Enchanting Landscapes of Banff National Park, Canada

If you're seeking an awe-inspiring destination for a 4-day trip in early October, look no further than the breathtaking Banff National Park in Alberta, Canada. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is undoubtedly one of the most amazing places I've visited in Canada, offering a mesmerizing blend of natural wonders and outdoor adventures.

Majestic Scenery and Vibrant Fall Colors

Early October is a fantastic time to visit Banff National Park as the landscape transforms into a vibrant palette of golden hues, creating a stunning contrast against the towering Rocky Mountains. The crisp autumn air and the absence of crowds make it an ideal season for hiking and exploring the park's numerous trails.

Iconic Sights and Activities

  • Lake Louise: This iconic turquoise-hued lake surrounded by towering peaks and the Victoria Glacier is a must-visit. Take a leisurely stroll along the shoreline or embark on a hike to the nearby Lake Agnes Tea House.
  • Moraine Lake: Another breathtaking lake with a mesmerizing blue-green color, framed by the rugged Valley of the Ten Peaks. The iconic Rockpile Trail offers panoramic views of the lake and surrounding mountains.
  • Sulphur Mountain: Ride the Banff Gondola to the summit of Sulphur Mountain for sweeping vistas of the town of Banff and the awe-inspiring Canadian Rockies.
  • Hiking Trails: Explore the park's extensive network of hiking trails, ranging from easy walks to challenging treks, such as the Ink Pots Trail, Fairview Lookout, and the iconic Stawamus Chief.

Accommodations and Dining

Banff National Park offers a variety of accommodation options, from cozy cabins to luxurious resorts. For a truly memorable experience, consider staying in the iconic Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise or the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel. The town of Banff also boasts numerous dining options, from casual eateries to fine dining establishments, where you can savor delectable Canadian cuisine and local specialties.

With its stunning natural beauty, diverse outdoor activities, and excellent accommodations, Banff National Park is an ideal destination for a 4-day getaway in early October. Whether you're an avid hiker, a nature lover, or simply seeking a rejuvenating escape, this Canadian gem promises an unforgettable experience.
