I've gone to japan via Korea before. Korean Air provides great service and the airport in Incheon is beautiful. The flight was under $1000.

Thanks everyone, I went with......AC......they had a great fare and it was direct. Hope it's not that bad!

AC is ok really. No bells or whistles. Econo all the way, JAL and ANA has way better food, but $200 - 300 difference for better food isn't worth it (look they aren't serving you cavier or ootoro here)

thought ANA was lower fare, with AC if you do not expect much, will be okay - check in early and pack light

ANA vs. Air Canada: Which is Better for Vancouver to Japan Economy Flight?

When it comes to flying from Vancouver to Japan in economy class, two of the most popular airlines are ANA (All Nippon Airways) and Air Canada. Both carriers offer direct flights between the two destinations, but there are some key differences that may sway your decision.

Inflight Experience

ANA is renowned for its exceptional service and hospitality, which is deeply rooted in Japanese culture. Their economy class cabin features comfortable seats with a generous pitch (legroom), and their in-flight entertainment system offers a wide range of movies, TV shows, and music to keep you entertained throughout the long journey.

Air Canada's economy class, while not as luxurious as ANA's, still offers a decent level of comfort and amenities. Their seats are relatively spacious for an economy cabin, and they provide complimentary meals, beverages, and in-flight entertainment.

Loyalty Programs

If you're a frequent flyer or plan to accumulate miles for future travel, the airline's loyalty program is an important consideration. ANA is a member of the Star Alliance, which includes airlines like United, Lufthansa, and Air Canada itself. This means that you can earn and redeem miles across the entire alliance network.

Air Canada, on the other hand, is a part of the Star Alliance as well, but it also has its own loyalty program called Aeroplan. Aeroplan offers a range of redemption options, including flights, hotel stays, and car rentals, and it's generally considered a more rewarding program than some of its competitors.

Price

Ultimately, for many travelers, the deciding factor will be the price. ANA is generally more expensive than Air Canada for economy flights between Vancouver and Japan, but the difference in cost may be justified by ANA's superior inflight experience and renowned service.

It's important to note, however, that prices can vary significantly depending on the dates, booking window, and other factors. It's always a good idea to compare prices and schedules for your specific travel dates before making a decision.

Conclusion

Both ANA and Air Canada offer excellent options for flying from Vancouver to Japan in economy class. If you value exceptional service, inflight amenities, and a more comfortable cabin experience, ANA may be the better choice, albeit at a higher price point. However, if you're more budget-conscious or prefer to accumulate miles with Air Canada's Aeroplan program, Air Canada could be the way to go.

Ultimately, the decision will depend on your personal preferences and priorities. Whichever airline you choose, you can look forward to a comfortable and enjoyable flight to Japan from Vancouver.
