You want the best or the cheapest? I have flown Continental which is now United both times and it was a great flight, flights likely in the 1200$ range, china eastern closer to $1000. I have always gone in November since prices are on the cusp of high season. Weather is great too. After Dec 1 prices go up for land costs

I like japan airlines. Did Cathay to India , first time excellent second was awful. Seats had some big seat belt knob that dug into your side and the no leg room. I have heard that they have reconfigured again since and its better.

The best way to thailand is through seattle and fly with korean or asiana.

Many options to get to Asia... air china, china eastern, JAL, Cathay, A/C, ANA, etc.
I've flown to Asia on both JAL and Cathay. Both excellent options, each connecting, in Narita and Hong Kong respectively. About to head to Bali via the Malaysia Airlines deal...

We booked with Travel Best Bets the first time we went, flew on cathay pacific and did the Hong Kong stopover - then Dragonair from Hong Kong to Thailand. Was a major long haul from YVR to HK - stopover was almost 8 hours but you can rent a day room and nap in HK airport or rest on lounge chair or use their computers and surf the net or email friends etc. Incheon airport didn't seem to have anything to do that I saw. Thailand was a blast, I love it there. Smoking hot and humid. Buy a cheap plastic rain poncho at dollar store, easy to pack and small enough to store in a pocket. When it rains, it pours, but we went in September rain season
