I am planning a 5 days/4 nights Disney Cruise (2 adults + one 5 year old) in Sep 2019 from Vancouver to San Diego. Would like to get some advice :
1. I was told that the Sea is rough at Pacific Coast, is that true? Worry about sea sick, motion sickness etc
2. Room category: is it worth to upgrade to ocean view room? What will be the pros and cons to book the inside stateroom? Which section will you recommend? Front, mid ship or back section
3. Which insurance company will you recommend for trip cancellation insurance (best rate)

Midship is the most stable. We had a verandah because we needed s room for 5, which we loved. But there is so much to do on the ship you won't spend that much time in your room except sleeping. There are some great blogs out there with tons of Disney cruise tips.

I’ve cruised along the Pacific coast 2 or 3 times on repositioning cruises. I have to admit it was terribly rough each time. They were May cruises if that makes any difference.

No balcony = nothing for child to climb over

I just came off a 3 week cruise..I also worried about sea sickness...I used the patches that go behind your ear they last 3 days..never felt sick at all..In was in April as soon as we left Cabo up to Seattle it wasn't rough water but it was cold and windy..the day in LA was nice and warm . Even though its sunny the wind is so cold ..Sept will be different..

Superstore or London drugs have them ..and they stayed on no problem in the pool and shower

We did Vancouver to LA in September and at times sea was definitely rough. Both my mom and son were pretty seasick (con to booking inside IMO) but I was totally fine. We were on the top 2 decks mid section w/a balcony.

I did that cruise the end of September last year with Holland America. Calm seas all the way to Puerto Vallarta. Midship lower decks are the best if you’re prone to seasickness. Evenings needed a sweater. BCAA had the best ins. price.

FYI-You didn't ask, but I was told that there are lots of kids events onboard where you are encouraged to buy Disney apparel in order to fit in. A five year old won't know the difference if you take some costumes with you to save some money.

The higher the deck, the more movement you feel. I agree with all other comments - you don't need to upgrade to a ocean view room, however, if you (or someone in your room) is prone to motion sickness, you may want to consider it. The ocean CAN be rough, but not always - depends on the weather. I wouldn't upgrade to a balcony - it's not worth the added expense as you shouldn't be in your room that much. On a side note, (and I know you didn't ask) you can do other cruises that are not Disney that will cost you a fraction of what you're going to pay on Disney and your 5 year old will still have lots to do.

Southbound in fall is less choppy than northbound in spring. Done it a few times. I got homeopathic sea sickness tabs for my kids and the seasick wrist bands just in case. No issues. Enjoy!

Almost any health food store and some pharmacies. Do be sure to check on the age appropriate doses etc.

I’m doing that cruise this year. I can give you feedback when we get back. My child will be 7. It’s our first cruise so I have no idea what to expect, but it seems like most disney cruises have a FB group. Lots of insight has been given in our group. Not much mention on the waters surprisingly.

All great comments. Did a few cruises on the West Coast in the fall. One was calm and one was a bit rough. We were not sea sick on either and you may not be but be prepared. I would stick to inside cabin and save your money for other activities. BCAA is good for insurance. Have fun. Should be a great cruise.
