Any tips to getting from a hotel to a hotel in Mexico? The only option our hotel is giving us is taking a cab for 90 roundtrip (travelling to Playa del Carmen from Ocean, Coral and Turquesa). Looking for a shuttle or something similar! Thanks

Walk to the highway and take the bus. Cheap and efficient, and you get to interact with locals

Where that hotel is located it is a pretty long hike to the highway

I agree with Dan. We always hop on the collectiva, wave your arm and they'll stop and pick you up.Not sure about the ADO, they may do the same thing. About 10 pesos.

The ADO is more than he collectiva by a long shot.

Ask the cab to take you to the bus stop cause I think it's far from the hotel ...it will be cheap cab and bus ride there

Here is a tip for what I had learned when I went. Never get into a cab without asking how much is it from this place to that place?? Because once you are sitting in the cab, they can charge whatever they want.

In the riviera maya, they have flat rates for cabs in the riviera Nayarit fares are more negotiable

Going hotel to hotel you will need to take a cab, or rent a car, hotel to airport I would recommend either cancun shuttle or USA transfers.

We used Canada Transfers when we were Mexico, worked great from the airport, not sure about hotel to hotel but you could check. Had a van for just the 6 of us.

Also recommend Canada Transfers as we used them last week. Professional, on time service & can pay in Cdn $ at par w/ USD! Just send an email to ask cost of hotel to hotel transfer - response usually same day during business hours.

Affordable Transportation Options from Hotels in Cancun to Playa del Carmen

If you're planning a trip to the Riviera Maya region of Mexico and are looking for economical ways to travel between hotels in Cancun and Playa del Carmen, you've come to the right place. Taking a cab for a round trip can be quite expensive, costing around $90 USD. However, there are some alternatives that can save you a considerable amount of money.

Public Transportation

One of the most budget-friendly options is to take public transportation. The ADO bus service operates between Cancun and Playa del Carmen, with buses running every 30 minutes. The journey takes approximately 45 minutes to an hour, depending on traffic conditions. The one-way fare is around $5 USD, making it an incredibly affordable option for those looking to save money.

Shared Shuttles

Another popular choice is to book a shared shuttle service. Several companies offer shuttles that pick up passengers from various hotels in Cancun and drop them off at their destinations in Playa del Carmen, or vice versa. These shuttles typically cost between $15 and $25 USD per person for a one-way trip, making them a more economical option than private taxis or transfers.

Some reputable shuttle companies to consider are:

  • Cancun Airport Transportation
  • Cancun Shuttle
  • Cancun Valet

Car Rental

If you're traveling with a group or prefer the convenience of having your own transportation, renting a car can be a viable option. Car rental companies like Hertz, Avis, and Budget offer competitive rates, and you can easily find rental locations near your hotel or at the Cancun International Airport. Just keep in mind that you'll need to factor in the cost of gas and parking fees.

Tips

  • Book your transportation in advance to secure better rates and availability.
  • Compare prices from different companies to find the best deal.
  • Check if your hotel offers any discounted transportation options or package deals.
  • Avoid peak travel times, if possible, to minimize traffic delays.

By exploring these alternatives, you can enjoy hassle-free transportation between Cancun and Playa del Carmen without breaking the bank.
