Hey Everyone,
I am looking to go to Perth Australia in December. So far my options are Southern China Airlines and Malaysian Airlines. Umm, although cheap I think I will skip the later option. Any other tips...?

Southern China Airlines were awful in my experience, dirty planes and rude staff. I heard Malaysia Airlines is supposed to be one of the best but no personal experience to report.http://www.worldairlineawards.com/.../airline2013_top20.htm

I noted that as well. It doesn't say much for validity of the list, does it?

I just got back from Perth this Sunday and in fact I did fly Malaysian, the fact that they have recently had a tragedy makes them the safest airline in the world right now!! They are a good airline and often codeshare with japan airlines who are wonderful. Just my thoughts.

How long did you go for and how much did you pay for your flight?

We went for 3 weeks. We took the deal advertised here a while ago with Malaysian airlines, we got tickets from Vancouver to Bali for $752 return with taxes and then brought air Asia flights for 330. Fantastic deal, we spent 3 days in Japan 1 night in Malaysia and 5 days diving in Bali, the rest was in Oz!

We just did the Malaysian flights, the code share with japan airlines was the best service I've had in ages. Malaysian was fine.

We paid about $1100 return each, via Tokyo

Planning Your Trip to Perth, Australia

Hey there! December is a fantastic time to visit Perth, the sunny capital of Western Australia. As you mentioned, Southern China Airlines seems like a viable option, but it's understandable to have reservations about Malaysian Airlines. Here are some tips to help you plan your trip:

Choosing an Airline

When it comes to airline choices, safety should be the top priority. Thankfully, there are several reputable airlines that fly direct from major cities to Perth. Consider options like:

  • Qantas (Australia's national airline)
  • Singapore Airlines
  • Emirates
  • Qatar Airways
  • Cathay Pacific

These airlines have excellent safety records and offer comfortable flights to Perth. Be sure to compare prices, flight times, and any layover durations to find the best option for your travel needs.

Exploring Perth

Perth is a vibrant city with plenty to offer visitors. Some must-see attractions include:

  • Kings Park and Botanic Garden
  • Cottesloe Beach
  • Swan Valley (for wine tasting)
  • Fremantle Markets
  • Rottnest Island (for stunning beaches and quokka spotting)

Additionally, December is an ideal time to experience outdoor activities like hiking, surfing, or exploring the nearby Margaret River region.

Accommodation and Transportation

Perth offers a wide range of accommodation options, from budget hostels to luxurious hotels. Consider staying in the city center or near the beach for easy access to attractions. As for transportation, the city has an efficient public transport system, including trains, buses, and ferries. Renting a car can also be a convenient option, especially if you plan to venture out of the city.
